Success Doesn’t Just Mean a Big Fat Account

Success doesn’t always mean having a fat bank account—definitely not for me. For me, success isn’t about money but about having the freedom to choose what to do with my life.
I can say that I have achieved success because I am a free person. I had the courage to leave my job, and although I am currently unemployed, I have the chance to pursue my dreams. I made this decision with a safety plan, saving enough money to avoid a messy situation. Now, I’m starting to live the life I’ve always wanted.
It took me 30 years to get here, but I can finally say I made it. I don’t know how many people can say that—with honesty and a fulfilled soul. For me, success means living life exactly how I want, not chasing a big house, expensive clothes, or a huge bank balance.
Of course, money is important and improves life quality, but I don’t need excess wealth just for the sake of having it or showing it off. Having savings is essential—it keeps me mentally stable, knowing I have a financial cushion for unexpected situations. But I don’t need a big bank account to feel at peace.
My life is simple, focused on frugality rather than overconsumption. I don’t indulge in unnecessary spending. I need only a few timeless secondhand clothes, food to eat, and money for basic necessities. Money should be a tool to improve life—like a better computer (not the latest, most expensive one) or a faster internet connection (because mine drives me crazy when uploading videos). These are practical things that make life easier, and that’s where I see the value in money. But I don’t believe in spending just to impress others.
Right now, I’m at the beginning of truly living. I quit my job two months ago, took time to rest, and started following my dreams. I’m unlearning the mindset of doing things just because they „need” to be done and instead learning to do what I truly want to do.
Although I have a master’s degree in business administration, I realized it wasn’t for me. I don’t like it. So, I’m searching for creative outlets to build a fulfilling life. I’ve always been drawn to the digital world, and now I find myself exploring graphic design—illustrations, animation, 3D rendering, web design, lettering, typography, drawing, and more. It excites me, and I want to pursue this creative path because it feels right. I want to be the master of my own life.
For others, success might look different—having a child, repairing a relationship, or finding a true friendship. These are things I’m still working on, and maybe they will happen one day. But for now, I’m content with my little victory.
P.S. I hope this reaches someone’s soul and makes a meaningful difference.
If you’re feeling lost, you’re not alone. I’m on the path to figure out life’s big WHY and I’d love for you to join me. Let’s take it one day at a time and find meaning in this life together.
